Whoever said athletes were arrogant and conceited was way off the mark, especially when it comes to Appalachian State University. The ASU football team, coming off one of its biggest wins in
recent years, wrote the following letter to the ASU students for their support in last Saturday night's win against Montana.....
Sept. 11, 2012
Fellow Appalachian State Students,
On behalf of the Appalachian football program’s players and coaches, we’d like to offer our most sincere thanks to you for your support during Saturday night’s win over Montana at The Rock.
You have no idea how much of a boost it is for us as players to see the student section packed when we take the field for pregame warmups, to feel the stadium rocking from your noise during the game and to celebrate with
you after a big win. Quite simply, the energy that you provide as the heart and soul of App Nation gives us thebest home-field advantage in all of college football and we can’t express enough how much it means to us.
We have another big game this Saturday when we open Southern Conference play against The Citadel — a team first time in four years. We need App Nation to bring the energy again as we try to take the first step in bringing
back the SoCon title to where it belongs — right here in Boone!
Thanks again for the support! Can’t wait to see you at The Rock on Saturday!

And our thanks to ASU Sports Information Director Mike Flynn for allowing us at GBR to share this letter with our readers. GO APPS!
