Huskies Hold On To Beat Elkin PDF Print

The Ashe County High football team snapped its two-game losing streak by knocking off Elkin 42-34 at Huskies Stadium in West Jefferson in the Mountain Valley 1A/2A Conference opener for both teams Friday night. The Huskies (2-2 overall; 1-0 MVC) turned three first

half turnovers by Elkin quarterback Josh Strickland into a 28-7 halftime lead. Jonathan Cox had 315 total yards of offense, including 233 on the ground to pace the Huskies. Strickland paced Elkin with a pair of touchdown runs and two touchdown passes in the second half. The Huskies travel to Starmount next Friday night.
