Former Crawdad and 2011 South Atlantic League MVP Jurickson Profar was promoted to the Major Leagues on Saturday and promptly made a strong impression in his first Major League at-bat on Sunday, homering on a 2-1 pitch from
Zach McAllister of the Cleveland Indians. He followed the long-ball with a double in his second at-bat and finished 2-for-4 in the game. Profar, 19, spent the entire 2011 campaign in Hickory as the youngest player in the South Atlantic League. In 115 games with the 'Dads, he hit .286 with 12 home runs, 65 RBIs, 27 doubles and 123 total hits. This season with the Frisco RoughRiders (AA), he put together a 29-game hitting streak and a 50-game on-base streak, making both the Midseason and Postseason Texas League All-Star Teams.
Profar becomes the 112th former Crawdad to make the big leagues and second already from the 2011 team, joining RHP Justin Grimm. He is also the eighth player that has played in Hickory since 2009 to already debut in the Major Leagues.
