Mountaineers Ranked 11th In TSN Top 25 PDF Print

The Appalachian State University football team dropped five spots in The Sports Network FCS Top 25 Football Poll. The Mountaineers (0-1), who lost to East Carolina, an FBS school in its season opener Saturday, is ranked 11th in this

week's poll. Sam Houston State, the preseason No.1 team and a national runner up last season, is No.1 for the second week in a row. Sam Houston State received 87 first-place votes. North Dakota State, which defeated Sam Houston State to win the national title last year, is No.2. The Bison received 65 first-place votes.
Georgia Southern is third. The Eagles, who blasted Jacksonville 58-0 in their season opener in Statesboro, received four first-place votes. Montana State is fourth and James Madison is fifth. Youngstown State, which made the biggest jump in the poll after the Penguins knocked off Pittsburgh, an FBS school, 31-17 on the road Saturday, jumped six spots from 13th to sixth, Youngstown State also received seven first-place votes.
Old Dominian, Northern Iowa, Eastern Washington and Wofford College round out the top ten. Montana, which plays ASU at Kidd Brewer Stadium Saturday night (4:30 p.m. on AM 1450, WATA), are ranked 12th. The Grizzlies are ranked ninth in the FCS Coaches Poll.
