The Hickory Crawdads cruised past the Greenville Drive 8-4 at Fluor Field in Greenville on Sunday evening. Hickory (38-31, 74-64) raced in front with six runs in a big top of the second inning against losing pitcher Madison Younginer (1-8). Back-

to-back singles by Jorge Alfaro and Kevin Torres opened the inning with runners at first and third.  Alfaro then darted home from third on a wild pitch by Younginer, opening the scoring.  After Jordan Akins worked a walk, both he and Torres advanced to second and third, respectively, on a ground out by Hirotoshi Onaka.  Luis Sardinas plated Torres with an RBI sacrifice fly, making it 2-0.  Rougned Odor worked a two-out walk to extend the frame and join Akins on the bases, before they both raced home on a two-run double by Drew Robinson. Trever Adams put the finishing touch on the ralley with a two-run home run over the center field wall, making it 6-0.
An RBI double by Drew Turocy in the bottom of the second got Greenville (31-37, 65-73) on the board, but the 'Dads stretched it back out in the top of the fifth.  Adams led off with a base hit and quickly swiped second base.  Later in the inning, he came home on a two-out RBI single by Akins, stretching it to a 7-1 lead.
The Drive cut the deficit with three runs in the bottom of the fifth, the final frame for winning pitcher Nick Martinez (8-6).  With one away, Matt Marquis worked a free pass and then raced all the way in on a double by Jose Garcia with a fielding error by Onaka on the play.  After Nick Natoli joined Garcia on the bases with a single, Martinez battled back with his eighth strikeout for the frame's second out.  However, Garin Cecchini drove a two-run double to left field, bringing the Drive within three runs, 7-4.
Hickory added their final insurance run in the top of the seventh. With the bases loaded and no outs, Adams came home on a double play ball hit by Torres, accounting for the eventual final score of 8-4 in the Hickory win. Coby Cowgill and Taylor Dennis bothed logged two scoreless relief innings, closing the Hickory victory.
