The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Team (2-0) wrapped up its weekend classic Sunday evening with a 3-1 victory over Lander (0-1-1) at the Moretz Sports - Athletic Complex. Freshman forward Leah Mullins (Kissimmee, Fla.) scored twice

to lead the Bears, who entered the match ranked No. 9 in NCAA Division II. L-R freshman midfielder Kendall Smith (Asheville, N.C.) also scored while senior goalkeeper Caitlin Scruggs (Torrance, Calif.) allowed just one goal while stopping five shots en route to the victory for the Bears.
Smith opened the scoring just 6:22 into the match when she took control of a loose ball and chipped it in right in front of the net.
Mullins pushed the Bears' advantage to 2-0 in the 18th minute after receiving a cross from freshman midfielder Garcelle Alequine (Wilmington, Del.) and knocking it over the keeper's head for the score. Alequine was credited with the assist.
Lander's Taylor Piorkowski (Lexington, S.C.) cut the lead in half right before intermission with a goal at the 43:57 mark but Mullins answered for the Bears with her second score of the contest just over five minutes after the break and L-R held on for the win.
