Junior middle Amanda Videmsek (Highland Heights, Ohio / Beaumont School) had a team-best 15 kills and secured a spot on the All-Tournament Team as Charlotte volleyball posted a sweep to win the final match of the Clemson Classic 3-0

(29-27, 25-19, 25-19) over Chattanooga Saturday night at Jervey Gymnasium. Charlotte improves to 4-2 on the season, dropping the Mocs to 3-3.  Both teams had not won a match coming into the finale after sweeping their opening weekends of play. A pair of Videmsek kills opened play, but 15 ties and eight lead changes set the tone for an exciting first set.  Charlotte fought off two set points when UTC took a 24-22 lead, and the Mocs survived two Charlotte set points until a kill from senior outside hitter Bianca Rouse (Columbia, S.C. / Keenan HS) gave the 49ers a 28-27 lead and freshman Mireya Braxton (Charlotte, N.C. / Providence HS) put away the deciding kill in the opener. Charlotte has won the opening set in all six season matches to this point of the season.
Charlotte trailed only once more in the match the rest of the way. The 49ers held the Mocs to a .099 attack percentage in the match, while limiting errors for a .220 attack percentage on the winning side. Rouse added 14 kills and 14 digs for her fourth-straight match with a double-double. The Niners were led in kills by senior libero Jenna Litoborski (Lemont, Ill.) and senior setter Lily Vera (Anderson, S.C. / Stone Bridge HS) recorded 44 assists in the three-set victory. All four of Charlotte’s wins have come in sweeps, while their two losses have come in four sets.
The 49ers will play their final non-league road weekend starting Friday at nearby Gardner-Webb. Charlotte will start that weekend with a Friday afternoon match against Delaware State at 4:30 in Boiling Springs, N.C.
