North Surry’s defense clamped down on Ashe County in a 21-6 matchup with its former coach. Brian Hampton is in his first year coaching the Huskies, with his former assistant taking the reins for the Greyhounds. The Huskies managed just

75 total yards all night. Blaze Acord scored with six minutes left in the half to give North Surry a 7-0 lead. Acord did all the damage against the Huskies (1-2), who dropped their second game in a row. Acord carried it 31 times for 201 yards and he scored three times. A fumble recovery by the Greyhounds (3-0) at the Ashe County 40-yard-line set the stage for Acord's final TD, which put the game out of reach.
The Huskies take on Elkin a home next Friday night.
