Boone Traffic Snarled with Numerous Wrecks PDF Print

The arrival of the series of boisterous storms yesterday afternoon seemed to set the scene for a rash of traffic accidents—mostly in Boone—although none were directly linked to the weather. The first was on Highway 105 (Noah Lockamy photos) near Poplar Hill Drive, a four-vehicle crash involving three SUV’s and a sedan.  Initially, no one claimed injury, but before the scene could be cleared, three were transported by Watauga Medics for treatment of a variety of injuries.  Boone Police said that it was a multi rear-end crash sequence, set up by a stopped vehicle in front, with the fourth vehicle slamming into the back of the third, which hit the second, then the first.  Officers were sorting out details in that 2:50pm crash at shift change.
Then, at about 3:30, a crash on Blowing Rock Road occurred in front of Wells Fargo—another rear-end collision between a sedan and Subaru station wagon.  Injuries in that were not considered life-threatening, and the Boone Police report was not complete late yesterday.
One reason for that was that Boone Police were called to yet another injury accident on NC 105 around 5pm. Details on that and other accidents to come today from Boone Police.
