The Lexington Legends outlasted the Hickory Crawdads 10-9 in a back-and-forth battle at L.P. Frans Stadium Tuesday night. The Legends pulled it out with a run in the ninth inning. With the game

tied 9-9, Ryan McCurdy, who scored the game-winning run, led things off with a walk and promptly stole second base. He moved to third following a sacrifice bunt by Nolan Fontana, and he scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly by Chan Moon.

But the Legends (29-34, 68-64) came charging back to tie the game at 5-5 before the Crawdads jumped back on top with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Nick Urbanus had an RBI single, and he later scored on a throwing error that gave Hickory a 7-5 lead. Lexington, thanks to two hit batsmen and two errors scored three times in the top of the sixth for an 8-7 lead; and Moon drove in a run in the top of the seventh that gave the Legends a 9-7 lead.
But the Crawdads tied it up with a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth. Deglan had a run-scoring triple and Drew Robinson had an RBI single that tied the game.
Coby Cowgill (0-1) coughed up the game-winning run in the top of the ninth and suffered the loss.
