The Carolina Panthers reduced their roster to 75 players on Monday. Among the players they released were kicker Olinda Mare, who signed a huge deal with the team last fall, and veteran punter Nick Harris. The Panthers will go with former Canadian Football League kicker John Medlock and rookie punter Brad Nortman. Wide receiver David Gettis, who missed
all of 2011 with a knee injury, and corner back Brandon Hogan were placed on the physically unable to perform list. Running back Jonathan Stewart suffered a sprained ankle in Sunday's 17-12 preseason win against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium at the Meadowlands. Stewart will not play in Thursday night's preseason finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers (air time 6 p.m. on Mix 102.3 FM). And there's no word whether Stewart will play in Carolina's season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on September 9.
