The West Virginia Power edged the Hickory Crawdads 4-3 at Appalachian Power Park in Charleston, WV on Saturday night. And the loss was a costly one as well, dropping Hickory 3 1/2 games behind the Hagerstown Suns for first place in the North Division of the South Atlantic League. The Suns also reduced their magic number to six with Hickory's

loss. The Power snapped a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the sixth. Dan Gamache led the inning off with a walk. He advanced to third on a double by Chris Lashmet.  And with runners at second and third with one out, Elias Diaz hit a sacrifice fly to right field scoring Gamache with the go-ahead run that gave West Virginia a 4-3 lead.
It was a disappointing loss for the Crawdads (34-28; 70-61), who fought their way back from a 3-0 deficit. The Crawdads started the comeback with two runs in the top of the fifth.  Kevin Torres and Jorge Alfaro got things started with back-to-back singles. But Torres was thrown out at third on a failed sacrifice bunt attempt by Nick Urbanus. But with two outs, Rougned Odor was hit by a pitch, loading the bases, and Trever Adams came through with a two-run single that scored Alfaro and Urbanus that made it, 3-2.
Then Hickory continued its rally in the top of the sixth.  With one away, Alejandro Selen led off the inning with a two-base errot thanks to Francisco Aponte, who misplayed his deep fly ball to left field. Torres followed with an RBI single that scored Selen with the tying run.
Torres had two hits and an RBI; Alfaro had two hits in the loss. Adams had two hits and two RBI. Victor Payano (6-8) suffered the loss. He gave up one run, earned, on one hit with a walk and four strikeouts in three innings. Mike Jefferson (6-7), who coughed up two runs in the fifth, got the win. Nick Kilcrease worked the ninth and picked up his 11th save.
