Vikings Remain Perfect PDF Print

The Avery High football team made it two in a row Friday night with a 21-7 win at MacDonald Stadium in Newland. The Vikings (2-0) did all of their scoring in the second quarter. Quarterback Tre Jackson paced the Vikings as he threw for

204 yards with two touchdown passes. He also scored on an 18-yard run with 1:28 to go in the first half.  The Blackhawks outgained the Vikings, 344-312, but the Vikings racked up 294 yards on the ground. Luke Childers paced the running game with 76 yards on 11 carries. Daniel Childress caught eight passes for 54 yards. Jackson hooked up with Austin Robbie on a 41-yard scoring toss with 10:51 to play in the second quarter for a 7-0 lead. He found Luke Childress on an 18-yard touchdown pass with 5:21 left in the first half that capped off an eight-play, 80-yard drive that gave Avery a commanding 14-0 lead.
The Vikings travel to Watauga next Friday night. It will be the 45th meeting between the schools. WHS leads the all-time series 30-13-1, but Avery has won the last two games, which includes a 46-27 win in Newland last season.
