The Hickory Crawdads recorded their eighth shutout of the season with a 6-0 win against the West Virginia Power at Appalachian Power Park in Charleston, WV Friday night. The win also moves Hickory into sole possession of second place

in the North Division of the South Atlantic League, just two games behind the Hagerstown Suns. Winning pitcher Will Lamb (5-8) and two relievers combined on a four-hit shutout. Lamb went five innings and gave up three hits with two walks and two strikeouts. The Crawdads (34-27; 70-60) scored the only run they needed in the first inning. Zach Cone lined an RBI single to left field putting Hickory on top, 1-0. The Crawdads pulled away with three more runs in the fifth.
Drew Robinson reached on an error to start the inning and he moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Jordan Akins. Hirotoshi Onaka followed with a base hit putting runners at the corners. Luis Sardinas then bounced a grounder to shortstop Alen Hanson with Robinson scoring on the play giving Hickory a 2-0 lead.  Hanson tried to retire Onaka at second, but threw wide of the bag.  The errant throw went down the right field line allowing Onaka to score on the play. Sardinas to race to third on that error. A hit batsman and a walk loaded the bases, and Cone drove in another run with a ground ball to first base.
Jorge Alfaro belted a solo home run in the sixth, and the 'Dads closed out the scoring with an unearned run in the top of the ninth. Sardinas had two hits and drove in a run; Cone drove in two runs to pace the Crawdads.
