'Dads Drop Series Finale To Braves PDF Print

The Rome Braves edged the Hickory Crawdads 6-4 Wednesday afternoon at L.P. Frans Stadium. It was a costly loss for the Crawdads, who now find themselves 2 1/2 games out of first place in the North Division of the South Atlantic

League. And they open a crucial series with West Virginia beginning tonight. Hickory begins the night one game behind the Power for second place in the North Division. The Braves (37-20, 55-72) wiped out a 3-1 deficit with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth. Brandon Drury had a run-scoring triple and Chase Anselment drove in Drury with the tying run on a ground-ball out to second base. The Braves took the lead for good on a solo home run by Fernando De Los Santos in the seventh; they added a pair of insurance runs in the eighth to put the game away.
Kyle Kubitza and Drury knocked each drove in a run with consecutive RBI singles, stretching the lead to 6-3. Rougned Odor homered for Hickory (32-27, 68-60) in the losing cause. Kellin Deglan, Trever Adams and Nick Urbanus each had two hits apiece. Paul Schwendel (1-1) suffered the loss. He coughed up three earned runs with four strikeouts in 2.1 innings.
