Danny Ives has been named the new assistant men's lacrosse coach at Lees-McRae College, announced head coach Andy Nesdill Wednesday.
"I am very excited to have Danny as an assistant coach," said Nesdill. "He brings a great work ethic that will be a

great asset for the program by running the offensive side of the field, and will have a tremendous impact in recruiting student athletes to Lees-McRae College."
Ives joins the Bobcat coaching staff following a successful four-year playing career at Lees-McRae, during which he tallied 54 goals, 13 assists, and 67 points in 41 games. A native of Cheadle, Cheshire, England, Ives finished last season ranked 19th in the nation in goals per game (2.36) after tallying 27 strikes in 11 contests.
The three-year starter led the Bobcats in goals in both his junior and senior seasons, posting a career-high seven goals against Rollins in 2012, which was tied for the highest single-game total in the NCAA Division II ranks. Ives also ranked seventh in the nation for points in a game last season, posting nine markers against Rollins. The 5-9, 170-pound attackman represented his nation in the 2008 world championships in British Columbia, Canada, helping the English U-19 national team finish fourth.
"I am very great full to be given the opportunity to stay at Lees-McRae College and continue to be a part of the lacrosse program," expressed Ives. "I am looking forward to working with Coach Nesdill and developing the team to be the best they can both on and off the field. I would like to thank the head Coach Nesdill and Athletic Director Craig McPhail for this wonderful opportunity."
