The Rome Braves, thanks to Mother Nature, hung on for a 5-4 victory against the Hickory Crawdads at LP Fran Stadium. The contest was called after five innings following two combined rain delays of one hour and 57-minutes.

The Crawdads also fall 1 1/2 games out of first place in the North Division of the South Atlantic League. The Braves (36-20, 54-72) built a 5-0 lead by the top of the third inning. The Crawdads (32-26, 68-59) scored all of their runs in the bottom of the fifth before the rains came. Jorge Alfaro drove in Hickory's first run with a fielder's choice; Rougned Odor made it 4-2 as he drove in a run with an RBI single to right field; Trever Adams launched a two-run triple to center field, bringing home Luis Sardinas and Odor that made it, 5-4.
But with the rain coming down, the umpires called for the tarp and another rain delay before the start of the sixth inning.  After the second delay lasted an hour and 20 minutes, the umpires called the game. Kevin Matthews (2-4) suffered the loss. He coughed up five runs, three earned on six hits in four-plus innings. Hickory only made three hits.
