Jones Invited To Impact Futures Game PDF Print

Well, it hasn't taken long for Watauga High senior Ryder Jones to show off his talents for his new team. Jones, who transferred to WHS from Stillwater

(Okla.) High after his father, Billy, was named the new baseball coach at Appalachian State University, has been invited to play in the Futures Game on Saturday at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
Jones, who was rated one of the top 50 players in the nation by, is a shortstop/pitcher, who led Stillwater to its first state tournament appearance since 2005. A 6-foot-3, 185 pounder, Jones has made a verbal commitment to attend Stanford, according to ImpactBaseball (though ESPNHS says he has not made a verbal commitment). He was also among 40 players that tried out for the USA 18-and-Under National Team Trials in Cary, N.C., in June.
In all, western North Carolina will be well represented on Saturday. Joining Jones will be senior Parker Johnson of T.C. Roberson, who has verbally committed to Wake Forest, and juniors Dominick Camarata, Braxton Davidson and Katon Harwood of the Rams. Harwood transferred to TCR from A.C. Reynolds, where he led the Rockets in victories last season. He verbally committed to Clemson as a sophomore. Another invitee is junior Coleman Arrowood of McDowell.
The senior class of 2013 will play the junior class of 2014 in a nine-inning game using wooden bats at Boshamer Stadium beginning at 11:45 a.m.
