WHS Volleyball Cruises In Season Opener PDF Print

The Watauga High volleyball team picked up right where it left off last season---dominating lesser opponents. The Pioneers (1-0) overpowered  Mitchell Tuesday night in their season opener. WHS won in a three-game sweep, 25-12, 15-8, 25-14 in Bakersville. Kristen Carter led the way with 28 assists, five aces and seven digs; Channing Hagaman had 11 kills,

three aces and six digs; Kiersten McClannon had six kills and six digs; Rebecca Hayes and Meredith Farthing each had five kills and Ashlyn Van Dyke had 15 digs and three aces.
WHS won the JV match in two games, 25-12, 25-15. Sarah Combs had 20 assists and Blake Byrd had six kills; freshman Sydney Farthing had eight kills. The Pioneers travel to North Surry Thursday night.
