Breitenstein Honored By Phil Steele PDF Print

Red-shirt senior Eric Breitenstein of Wofford College is on the cover of Phil Steele's 2012 FCS College Football Preview Magazine. Breitenstein is among the leading candidates for the Walter Payton Award (which goes to the best offensive player in the nation at the FCS level). Breitenstein, a two-time All-Stater during his prep days at Watauga High, ran for 1,486 yards and 19 touchdowns last fall. He's a three-time All-America, and he was named to the Southern Conference All-Freshman Team as a true freshman in 2008.. He set a school record for rushing yards (1,639) and touchdowns (22) in a single season as a red-shirt sophomore in 2010.
He was named a preseason All-America by the College Sporting News, and he is  the Southern Conference preseason Offensive Player of the Year. The Terriers (8-4 last season)  open the season at Gardner-Webb Saturday, September 1.
