Johnson Indicted On Five New Sex Charges PDF Print

Hickory High basketball coach Shawn Johnson was indicted on five new sex crimes against two female students on Monday. He was charged with one count of taking indecent liberties with a student with one of the victims and

four counts of indecent libertie swith a second victim. All of these charges are Class I felonies and each carries a maximum penalty of one year in prison if Johnson is convicted.
Johnson is still being held in the Catawba County jail under a $300,000 secured bond on five previous charges of having sex with student. He has not been served on his newest indictments.
He was arrested on July 26 and charged with four charges of statutory rape and one charge of sex offense by a teacher. All five charges come from one girl, who was a 14-year-old student when Johnson allegedly began having intimate relations with her. He was 33 years old at the time.
Each of the statutory rape charges carries a maximum penalty of life in prison if Johnson is convicted. He faces a maximum of three years and 11 months in prison if convicted of the charge of sex offence by a teacher.
Johnson is employed as a physical education teacher, assistant football coach and head basketball coach.
