The Greenville Drive took the series by knocking off the Hickory Crawdads 4-1 at Fluor Field in Greenville on Friday night. The loss also leaves Hickory (22-20; 58-53) two games out of first place in the North Division of the South Atlantic League second-half standings. Hagerstown defeated Lexington 6-3 to maintain its grip on first place; West Virginia remained

a game back with a 2-0 win over Lakewood. The loss leaves the BlueClaws in a third-place tie with Hickory, two games off the lead.
The Drive (21-20, 55-56) took a 3-0 lead by the third inning. A throwing error by losing pitcher Victor Payano (5-7) in the first inning gave Greenville a 1-0 lead; a run-scoring fielder's choice by Henry Ramos in the second inning made it 2-0; and Jordan Weems' RBI single in the third gave the Drive a 3-0 lead. Drew Robinson drove in Hickory's only run with a solo home run in the sixth. But with Greenville leading, 3-1, the Drive scored its final run of the game with an unearned run in the bottom of the eighth.
The Crawdads only made six hits; Payano, who suffered the loss, gave up three earned runs on six hits with three walks in three innings. The 'Dads also committed two errors.
