Steve Breitenstein will take over as head football coach of the Watauga Middle School football team this fall. He replaces Dale Allred, who led the program the last two years. Allred will stay on and coach the offensive line this season.
"We just flipped things around this season," Breitenstein said. "It's no big deal. For what it's worth, I'm the new

head coach, but everything will stay the same. Dale is an excellent coach. I'm glad he's still on our staff."
And the middle school team is also looking for recruits. If you are a rising seventh or eighth grader and you want to play football this fall, you may contact coach Breitenstein at (828) 773-7739 for more information. The Wolverines will open the season at Jack Groce Stadium at Watauga High School against Avery on Tuesday, August 21.
