Lenoir-Rhyne's Kate Griewisch has been named to the 2012 USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Women's Track & Field All-Academic Team.  USTFCCCA is the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association. Griewisch, a native of Banner Elk, N.C., recently finished her career as a seven-time, three-sport NCAA Division II All-American. This

year, Griewisch earned D-II All-American honors in the women's 5,000-meter championship at both the indoor and outdoor national finals with fourth-place finishes in each event. In addition, Griewisch placed third in the outdoor finals of the women's 10,000-meter race this past May in Pueblo, Colo., for her second straight All-American honor in the event.
In women's cross country, Griewisch is a three-time NCAA Division II All-American and has won the past three Southeast Regional Championships (2009-11) and the 2009 and 2011 South Atlantic Conference Championship meets. Griewisch, a 2011 and 2012 CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-America honoree in women's cross country and track and field, graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne with a bachelor's degree in biology and a grade point average of 3.85 in May.
Griewisch was named the 2011-12 South Atlantic Conference Female Athlete Of The Year and was the female recipient of the SAC Presidents Award two years ago. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have reached a provisional or automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships in either indoor or outdoor seasons.  A total of 317 student-athletes representing 82 institutions compose the group.
