The College of Charleston men's basketball team will face St. John's in opening-round tournament play as the bracket for the 2012 Charleston Classic presented by Foster Grant was released on Thursday. The annual tournament will be played Thursday, Friday and Sunday, Nov. 15, 16 & 18, at TD Arena. The Cougars and Johnnies are two of eight

competing teams in the field including 2012 NCAA Elite Eight participant Baylor, Boston College, Colorado, Dayton, Auburn and Murray State. CofC and St. John's will battle in a first-ever meeting between the two schools at 5 p.m. (ET) on Thursday, Nov. 15, and the game will be televised nationally on ESPNU. Legendary CofC Head Coach John Kresse, whose name is honored on the TD Arena court, was a former assistant coach for legendary St. John's Head Coach Lou Carnesecca for 11 seasons from 1965-70 and 1973-79, prior to landing the head job at Charleston.
Dayton will commence the tournament against Colorado at 12:30 p.m. (ET) in Thursday's opening-round action, Baylor versus Boston College at 3 p.m. (ET) and Murray State against Auburn in the nightcap at 8 p.m. (ET).
The Cougars will also play a non-bracketed road game at Baylor on Saturday, Nov. 24, at a time still to be determined in Waco, Texas.
ESPN3 will have six exclusive games and ESPNU will air five, while the championship game will be televised on Sunday, Nov. 18, at 8:30 p.m. (ET) on ESPN2. All games will be available through WatchESPN, accessible online at and through smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app to fans who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider. The on-site games from the Charleston Classic presented by Foster Grant will air on ESPN3D.
The 2012 Charleston Classic presented by Foster Grant, an eight-team men's college basketball tournament, will feature 12 games over three days. Each team will compete in one game per day, advancing through a bracket-tournament format.  The Charleston Classic presented by Foster Grant is owned and operated by ESPN Regional Television (ERT), a subsidiary of ESPN. Northwestern won the 2011 tournament title and other previous winners include Clemson (2008), Miami (2009) and Georgetown (2010).
