Springs Named SCBL All-Star PDF Print

Jeffrey Springs, a rising sophomore at Appalachian State University played in the Southern Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game on Sunday, July 22 at John Henry Moss Stadium at Gardner-Webb University. Springs threw

one inning with two walks and two strikeouts.  Springs is currently playing for the Pineville Pioneers in the SCBL. In six games, he has 31 strikeouts in 27 innings and a 2.63 earned-run-average. Springs made 12 appearances, including five starts, for the Mountaineers in 2012. He was 2-1 with a 4.80 ERA. In 30 innings, he gave up 16 earned runs with 22 strikeouts and 19 walks.

 


O'DONNELL WINS FIRST MARATHON

 


Annie O'Donnell, who graduated from Davidson College in 2008, won her first marathon on July 24 in Salt Lake City, UT. O'Donnell completed the 26-mile course in 2:53:49.3 to win the Women's Desert News Marathon. The effort also leaves O'Donnell just 11 minutes off the qualifying time required for the Olympics.
