The Hickory Crawdads remained in a first-place tie with the Hagerstown Suns in the North Division of the South Atlantic League as they cruised to the 8-1 win against the Delmarva Shorebirds at L.P. Frans Stadium on Monday

Hickory (18-13, 54-46) took a commanding 5-0 lead by the fourth inning. They errupted for four runs in the inning. Rougned Odor led off with a triple to the right-field corner. And he scored moments later on an RBI single by Zach Cone. Chris Grayson walked putting runners at first and second with nobody out before Jorge Alfaro brought them both home on a two-run double. Alfaro took third on a single by Alejandro Selen, and then Jordan Akins brought him home on an RBI fielder's choice for a 5-0 lead.
Hickory added three more runs in the bottom of the eighth. A one-out single by Luis Sardinas started the charge; he moved to second base on a passed ball.  Trever Adams then pulled an RBI double to the left-field wall, plating Sardinas. Then with one out and two runners on, Grayson unloaded a two-run triple to right-center field, scoring Adams and Cone for the 8-1 advantage.
Andrew Faulkner (3-3) picked up his third win of the year; the left hander went seven innings and gave up an earned run on seven hits with a walk and four strikeouts. Adams, Sardinas, and Jorge Alfaro each had two hits apiece; the Crawdads had 11 hits. Alfaro, Adams, and Grayson all had two RBI apiece. Mikey Planeta drove in the only run for the Shorebirds (12-18; 40-59) with a run-scoring double in the fifth.
