Ruble Awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship PDF Print

Charlotte track and field student athlete Macey Ruble is the recipient of a $7,500 postgraduate scholarship, awarded by the NCAA following the conclusion of his senior season. Already a recipient of a $5,000 postgraduate award from the Atlantic 10 Conference, Ruble plans to enroll at Cornell

in pursuit of a terminal degree in physics.The NCAA awards 174 one-time postgraduate scholarships annually (87 male, 87 female), spread out amongst all of the year's championship sports. A student-athlete at a member institution is eligible is they are in their final year of eligibility, have a minimum grade point average of 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale), have performed with distinction as a member of the varsity team in the sport in which they are nominated, intent to continue academic work beyond their baccalaureate degree and are outstanding citizens and excellent role models for the institution and intercollegiate athletics as a whole.A native of Boone, N.C., finished his career at Charlotte posting a flawless 4.0 GPA while double majoring in Physics and Mathematics as well as a minor in Psychology.  The pole vault specialist has placed in the top 10 at the Indoor A-10 Track and Field Championships all four years, his best finish a second at the 2010 A-10 Indoor Championships.  Ruble also placed in the top five at the Outdoor track and Field A-10 Championships in his freshman, sophomore and junior seasons.  His 15'1" mark in 2009 is tied for third all-time in the pole vault at Charlotte for an outdoor season, while a 14'3" jump stands as tenth-best at Charlotte for an indoor meet.He is a four-time member of the Chancellor's List and Atlantic 10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll, as well as a two-time member of the Capital One Academic All-District Three Team (2010, 2012). Ruble is a three-time winner of the Hugh McEniry Men's Student Athlete of the Year at Charlotte, awarded to the male student-athletes with the highest grade point average in the department.  Ruble was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society in 2010 and Sigma Pi Sigma National Physics Honor Society in 2011.
