The Hickory Crawdads have hit a snag on their eight-game road trip. They've dropped two in a row after they opened the road trip with a win on Tuesday night. On Thursday, the Crawdads were limited to three hits as they were victimized by the Lakewood BlueClaws in a 4-0 loss at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood. The win also moves the BlueClaws within

two games of first place in the North Division of the South Atlantic League; and the Crawdads remain in a two-way tie for first place with the Hagerstown Suns. The Suns dropped a 4-3, ten-inning decision at Greensboro Thursday night.
The BlueClaws (12-9, 38-52) utilized a balanced attack as they scored single runs in the third, fifth, sixth and seventh innings. Josh Ludy, who scored the eventual winning run, led off the third inning with a walk. He moved to second base on a wild pitch; he advanced to third on a ground-ball out and he scored on Carlos Perdomo's RBI single. The BlueClaws doubled their lead in the bottom of the fifth. And Ludy was in the mix once again. He led off the inning with a single, moved to second on a passed ball, went to third on a grounder and he scored on Diego Gonzalez's two-out RBI single that game Lakewood a 2-0 lead. Ludy had an RBI double in the sixth and Brock Stassi grounded into an RBI fielder's choice that scored Perdomo for the final tally.
Winning pitcher Hoby Milner (1-1) combined on a three-hit shutout with Yari Sosa and Kenny Giles. Ludy paced the BlueClaws going 2-3 with a double, two runs scored, walk and an RBI. Perdomo was 2-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI. Nick Martinez (5-3) suffered the loss. He gave up two runs, one earned, in five innings with three strikeouts and three walks.
