The Crawdads rallied back from a 5-0 deficit only to come up short in a 7-6 loss in 11 innings against the Delmarva Shorebirds Sunday night at LP Fran Stadium. Shortstop Edwin Garcia had a season-high five hits and drove in two runs in the losing effort. A two run rally in the bottom of the ninth forced extra innings. The 'Dads (13-5; 49-38) tied the

game when Jorge Alfaro struck out on a wild pitch for what should have been the game's final out. But the ball got away from catcher Wynston Sawyer allowing Alfaro to reach first base extending the game. Drew Robinson followed with an infield base single, and a throwing error by second baseman Tommy Winegardner, sent Alfaro to third. But the Shorebirds (5-12; 33-53) moved back in front with a run in the top of the 11th. With two on and two out, Sawyer placed a run-scoring double just inside the third-base line that gave the Shorebird a 7-6 lead. The Crawdads managed a pair of base runners in the bottom of the 11th, but winning pitcher Jesse Beal (2-3) settled down and quelled the rally.
Garcia was 5-6 with a double and two RBI; he was one hit shy of the team record of six hits. Jordan Akins was 2-5 with a pair of RBI. Daniel Lopez (0-1) suffered the loss in relief. He went three innings and gave up an earned run on five hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
