Allen, Joens Commit To ASU PDF Print

Rising seniors Jackson Allen and Zach Joens of Asheville High have made a verbal commitment to play college soccer for Appalachian State in 2013. Allen, a midfielder, and Joens ,a forward, were All-Mountain Athletic 3A/4A

Conference selections for the Cougars,who won the Class 3A Division title last fall. Asheville was 25-2-1 in 2011 and made it to the Class 3A Western Regional Finals. Asheville tied a state record with 20 shutouts last season.

 


Asheville Stands Tall In Carolinas All-Star Game

 


Trey Hemphill and Shenny Lenhart played a huge role in Saturday's Clash of the Carolinas All-Star soccer games in Daniel Island, S.C. Hemphill, who graduated from T.C. Roberson, scored the game's only goal as North Carolina won the men's game 1-0 against South Carolina. Hemphill scored on a penalty kick in the 33rd minute, Lenhart, an A.C. Reynolds graduate who set a new single-season record for goals scored in women's soccer last spring, had an assist as North Carolina defeated South Carolina 2-1 in the women's game. Both Hemphill and Lenhart have signed with UNC-Asheville, a Division I school and a member of the Big South Conference.
