The Hickory Crawdads scored 11 runs in the first five innings, cruising to the 12-5 win against the Delmarva Shorebirds Saturday night at L.P. Frans Stadium. Kellin Deglan (five RBIs) and 3B Drew Robinson (four RBIs) combined to drive in nine of the 12 runs for Hickory. And with the win, the Crawdads (13-4; 49-37) maintained their two-gaem lead

on Hagerstown for first place in the North Divison of the South Atlantic League. The Suns defeated Lexington, 9-6; Lakewood fell four games back. The BlueClaws, who are tied with West Virginia for third place, lost to the Power, 8-1.
The Shorebirds (4-12, 32-53) grabbed a two-run lead in the top of the first inning. Connor Narron drove in Delmarva's first run with a sacrifice fly; Michael Ohlman followed with an RBI single that gave the Shorebirds a 2-0 lead. But the Crawdads responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the first. Drew Robinson highlighted the rally with a two-run double that tied the game. And Robinson scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch moments later for a 3-2 Hickory lead
The 'Dads went on a power surge in the third and fourth innings making it 7-2. Robinson unloaded with a two-run shot off the scoreboard in the third; Deglan belted a two-run bomb over the left-field wall in the fourth. Four more runs on the fifth made it 11-2. Jorge Alfaro belted a solo home run, Robinson walked and moved to third on a double by Edwin Garcia.  With one out, Deglan hit his second home run of the game, a three-run shot that was just fair inside the right-field foul pole.
Arlett Mavare (4-4) picked up his fourth win of the year with 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief frames. The Shorebirds collected three runs in the top of the eighth cutting down the deficit at 11-5, but the 'Dads scored again in the bottom of the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Alfaro. Trever Adams was 3-4 with three runs scored; Alfaro had two hits, including a home run and two RBI; Robinson was 2-3 with a double, a home run, three runs scored and four RBI; and Deglan was 2-3 with two runs scored, a pair of home runs, five RBI and a walk.
