Dowdy Has Big Game In Losing Cause PDF Print

Jeremy Dowdy is a determined young man. Following his promotion from the Rookie Appalachian League to the Advanced Class A Carolina League, Dowdy, who played at Appalachian State University, bounced back from a rocky debut to a solid effort Wednesday night. Dowdy, who was 0-5 Tuesday in his first game with the Winston-Salem Dash, was 3-4 with

a double in an 8-4 loss to Myrtle Beach. Dowdy is batting .333 in two games with the Dash....Tyler Tewell, who played at ASU and was taken in the 14th round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Atlanta Braves, belted is first professional home run---a three-run shot---Wednesday night for the Gulf Coast League Braves of the Rookie Gulf Coast League in a `3-6 loss to the Pirates. Tewell is batting .250 in five games with the GCL Braves.....Nathan Hyatt of the Mountaineers, who was taken by the Braves in the 13th round of the MLB Draft, tossed a scoreless inning with a strikeout Wednesday night fo the Danville (Va.) Braves of the Rookie Appalachian League in a 4-3 loss to the Bluefield Bluejays. Hyatt is 2-0 with a save and a 3.60 earned-run-average in four appearances with the Braves. In five innings, he's given up two earned runs with a walk and eight strikeouts.....And Will Callaway, who will be a rising senior at ASU next season, continues his torrid pace in the collegiate Cape Cod League. Callaway was 1-4 with three runs-batted-in in a 9-7 loss to Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox Wednesday night. For the year, Callaway is batting .278 in 16 games with the Hyannis Habor Hawks. He has 15 hits, including four doubles, a home run and ten RBI with nine runs scored and five stolen bases.
