Hickory pitchers Will Lamb and Nick McBride combined on a one-hit performance as the Crawdads defeated the Delmarva Shorebirds 3-1 at LP Fran Stadium in from of their largest crowd in five years. A standing-room only crowd of 5,468 were on hand as the Crawdads maintained sole possession of first place in the Northern Division of the South Atlantic

League. The Crawdads (11-3; 47-36) own a three-game lead on Hagerstown and Lakewood. Wynston Sawyer had Delmarva's (3-10; 31-51) led off the third inning with a single. He moved to third on an error followed by a sacrifice bunt. In the process of striking out the subsequent two batters, Lamb gave up a run as he uncorked a wild pitch allowing Sawyer to score for a 1-0 Delmarva lead. Lamb, who picked up his second win of the year, retired 15 of the final 16 batters he faced to keep the Shorebirds
offense at bay throughout his seven innings on the mound, striking out seven along the way.
The Crawdads responded with a run in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game. Rougned Odor started the charge with a base hit to left field and advanced to third on a hit-and-run single by Trever Adams. Jorge Alfaro drove in Odor on an RBI sacrifice fly to deep center field, tying the game, 1-1.  The 'Dads then jumped in front with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Drew Robinson led off the inning with an opposite-field single to shallow left-center field. Robinson then
reached third base on a single pulled to right field by Odor. After Odor stole second base, Alfaro shot a base hit to left field, plating Robinson and putting the Crawdads on top 2-1. Jhonny Gomez followed with a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Odor from third that gave the Crawdads a 3-1 lead.
Nick McBride took over and tossed two scoreless innings for his second save of the year.
