Well as the old cliche goes, a bad start doesn't necessarily mean a bad finish. Jeremy Dowdy, who was promoted by the Chicago White Sox Monday night from the Bristol (Va.) White Sox of the Rookie Appalachian League to the Advanced Class A Carolina League with the Winston-Salem Dash, made his debut wit the Dash Tuesday night. Dowdy was 0-5 with
a strikeout in a 3-2 loss to the Lynchburg Hillcats. Dowdy, who played at Appalachian State University, batted .412 during his brief four-game stay with Bristol. He wasn't selected in the Major League Baseball Draft, but he signed a free agent deal with the White Sox. Dowdy turned in a solid senior year for the Mountaineers. He batted .269 with 12 doubles, two triples, three home runs and 38 RBI. He also had ten stolen bases in 13 attempts.
