Appalachian State University head field hockey coach Brandi Alexander Kist announced the signing of mid/backfield player Amber Boot (Amsterdam, Netherlands/Keizer Karel College) for the Fall 2012 season on Tuesday.
“We are extremely excited that Amber has become a Mountaineer,” Alexander Kist said. “She has been playing

hockey since she was a young girl and brings a great deal of experience and a strong knowledge of the game. Her stick skill, vision, and ability to distribute will be an asset to both our back and midfield lines.”
Boot comes to the High Country from Amsterdam, Netherlands, where she studied at Keizer Karel College. She competed for Hurley club team and coach Leonard Westenberg, where she led the squad to numerous tournament championships over the past eight seasons.  The 5-7 Boot is the daughter of Bob and Caroline Boot and she has one older sister, Ripha (20). She enjoys snowboarding and playing saxaphone in her spare time and is undecided on a major. Boot joins 10 other new Mountaineers for 2012 as the team opens the campaign against Georgetown on August 25. It is the first of two neutral-site competitions at Davidson, N.C., as ASU then takes on William & Mary the following day.
