The Hickory Crawdads just keep rolling along. Hickory, which has scored 23 runs in its last two games, blew away the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 11-4, Friday night at NewBridge Bank Park in Greensboro. With the win, the 'Dads take over sole possession of first place in the second half standings in the North Division of the South Atlantic League; they're also

4-1 on the current nine-game road trip.  The 'Dads (7-2, 43-35) grabbed an early 4-0 lead by the third inning. A run-scoring single by Drew Robinson and an RBI grounder by Aljandro Selen gave Hickory a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Hickory tacked on two more runs in the second and third innings combined. An RBI fielder's choice by Luis Sardinas brought in Jordan Akins, who led off the inning with a double, from third before the 'Dads added another run in the fourth. With two outs in the inning, Selen and Grayson belted back-to-back doubles, making it 4-0.
Will Lamb (1-6) was the benefactor as he picked up his first win of the year. The left hander went five innings and gave up three earned runs with five strikeouts. He kept the Grasshoppers (4-5, 50-29) scoreless until the Grasshoppers got on the board in the bottom of the third. With two on and nobody out, Austin Barnes laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance the runners to second and third, and Aaron Senne drove in Rand Smith from third, cutting the deficit to 4-1. Greensboro continued chipping away with a two-run home run by Senne in the bottom of the fifth. But Lamb got out of the inning with the Crawdads still in the lead, 4-3.
But the 'Dads put some distance between themselves and the Grasshoppers by scoring four runs in the sixth. Kellin Deglan had an RBI single, Sardinas plated Deglan with an RBI double off the right-center field wall, and Trever Adams closed out the scoring with a two-run single for an 8-3 lead.
Sardinas had a double and drove in three runs; Adams and Grayson had two RBI apiece. The 'Dads made 14 hits. The 'Dads own a one-game lead on the Hagerstown Suns in the North Division for first place.
