Nathan Hyatt seems to be settling in with his new team quite well. The former Appalachian State University right hander, who was taken by the Atlanta Braves in the 13th round of the Major League Baseball Draft, picked up his second win at the professional level Friday night for the Danville (Va.) Braves of the Rookie-Appalachian League. Danville outlasted

the Greeeville Astros 6-2 in 17 innings. Hyatt went two innings and gave up an earned run on two hits with a pair of strikeouts; for the season, Hyatt, who had 16 saves for the Mountaineers last spring, is 2-0 with a save and a 4.50 earned-run-average in three appearances. Tyler Tewell has played in one game this season for the Danville Braves, and he's hitless in two plate appearances.
NOTES: Rising sophomore Jeffrey Springs of the Mountaineers is off to a good start wit the Pineville Pioneers of the Southern Collegiate Baseball League. In three appearances, Springs is 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA. He's given up four earned runs with 19 strikeouts in 16 innings.....Jeremy Dowdy is 4-10 in three games for a .400 batting average in three games with the Bristol (Va.) White Sox of the Rookie-Appalachian League (affiliate of the Chicago White Sox). He has a double, a triple and he's driven in a run....Ryan Arrowood, playing with the Tri-City Dust Devils of the Class A Northwest League (affiliate of the Colorado Rockies) is 0-0 in two appearances, both starts, with three hits allowed, six strikeouts and two walks in 7 2/3 innings.
