The Hickory Crawdads exploded for 11 runs in the first three innings, swinging their way to the 13-9 win against the Kannapolis Intimidators at CMC-Northeast Stadium in Kannapolis Thursday night.  The 'Dads have started the second

half with consecutive series wins, and Thursday night's win also gives Hickory a one-and-a-half-game lead in the North Division of the South Atlantic League.
The Crawdads (6-2, 42-35) didn't waste any time by smacking five consecutive hits to start the game and by scoring six runs in the top of the first inning. Luis Sardinas led things off with a double, and the Crawdads followed with four straight singles by Trever Adams, Rougned Odor, Jeremy Williams and Alejandro Selen for the 2-0 lead. After losing pitcher Matt Lane (2-1) retired the next two batters, Jordan Akins delivered with a two-run double, and Nick Urbanus produced a two-run single that gave Hickory a 6-0 lead.
Hickory kept pouring it on with five more runs in the top of the third.  Williams led off with a double and Selen, who had three hits and four runs-batted-in, homered for an 8-0 lead. An RBI single by Sardinas, an RBI sacrifice fly by Adams and an error gave Hickory a commanding 11-0 lead. From there, the Intimidators (4-3, 37-40) were able to chip the large deficit down in the fourth and fifth innings against winning pitcher Jerad Eickhoff (9-4), who has won his last five decisions.  An RBI single by Joe De Pinto, an RBI grounder by Garis Pena and an RBI base hit by Keenyn Walker drove in the three runs to make it, 11-3. Kannapolis picked up another run in the fourth on an RBI double by Leighton Pangilinan, making it 11-4.
The 'Dads got two of those runs back on Selen's run-scoring single and a fielder's choice RBI by Kellin Deglan that pushed the lead to 13-4. Kannapolis scored five runs in the final two frames.  Arlett Mavare, who took over with two men on base and two runs in, picked up his second save as he got the final two outs of the game with a strikeout and a game-ending ground out.
