Crawdads Crush Kannapolis, 7-1 PDF Print

The Hickory Crawdads maintained their grip on first place in the North Division of the South Atlantic League as they cruised to the 7-1 win against the Kannapolis Intimidators at CMC-Northeast Stadium in Kannapolis on

Tuesday night. With the win, the 'Dads now own a 1 1/2-games lead on Kannapolis for first place. Leading 1-0, the 'Dads (5-1; 41-34) exploded for six runs in the top of the eighth inning. Nick Urbanus highlighted the frame with a two-run single up the middle; Urbanus scored all the way from first base on an RBI double by Chris Grayson that gave the 'Dads a 4-0 lead, Trever Adams had a run-scoring double, and Jeremy Williams and Jorge Alfaro each had an RBI single capping off the rally and extending Hickory's lead to 7-0.
Nick Martinez picked up the win. The right hander went six innings and held Kannapolis (3-2; 36-39) scoreless. Martinez (4-2) scattered seven hits, walked one and struck out seven.
Kannapolis finally scored in the eighth inning, thanks to an RBI single by Leighton Pangilinan. Kellin Deglan was 2-4 with a double and a home run; Urbanus drove in two runs; Adams had two hits, including a double and an RBI.
