One thing is for sure, Alissa McKaig of Zap Fitness Foundation in Blowing Rock gave it all she had at the Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore. Unfortunately, she just came up short in both her events. McKaig, who turned in an 11th-place finish

in the women's 10,000-meter run Friday night, finished 21st in the preliminary run of the women's 500-meter run on Monday night. The top 16 runners advanced to the finals Thursday night. McKaig finished race in 16:03.09, just nine seconds behind Kellyn Johnson of Adidas/McMillan Elite, who nailed down the 16th and final spot in 15:54.42.
