The Hickory Crawdads took over first place in the Northern Division in the second half of the South Atlantic League season. The Crawdads (4-1; 40-34) knocked off the Kannapolis Intimidators 6-2 Monday night at CMC-Northeast Stadium to move into first place. The 'Dads jumped on top with a two-out rally in the top of the first inning. With two away and the bases empty, Rougned Odor belted a solo home run on the first pitch for a 1-0 lead.  Jeremy Williams followed with a single

up the middle and promptly raced home on an RBI triple by Drew Robinson for a 2-0 advantage.  Winning pitcher Victor Payano (5-3) kept the ead intact through his five scoreless innings of work. Payano scattered just three hits and struck out four. The Intimidators (3-1, 36-38) got on the board in the bottom of the sixth against relief pitcher Arlett Mavare. But Hickory put the contest out of reach with a big blast in the top of the seventh.  Chris Grayson provided the fireworks with a towering three-run homer to right field, stretching the Hickory lead to 5-1.
Alejandro Selen had an RBI double inside the third-base line in the eighth inning that scored Williams for a 6-1 lead. Chance Sossamon navigated out of a bases-loaded jam with only the one run scoring by inducing an inning-ending double play ball in the eighth. Sossamon then dealt a scoreless ninth, and the 'Dads ended the game by turning their fourth double play of the game.
