Pall Cut By Stamps PDF Print

First round draft choice Ameet Pall of Wofford College has been cut by the Calgary Stampeders after he sufferd a foot injury in Friday's preseason game against the Toronto Argonmauts. Pall, the 2010 Defensive Player of the Year in the Southern Conference, was taken by the Stampeders with the fifth pick in the Canadian Football League Draft on May 3. He was an All-America for the Terriers last season. Pall will remain in Calgary to rehab his injury, and until a final decision

concerning his future with the Stampeders will ber made. Quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell, the Walter Payton Award winner last season, has made the Stampeders roster as a third-string quarterback. Mitchell, who played at Eastern Washington, led that school to an Football Championship Subdivision national championship in 2010. He was also named the Most Outstanding Player in that game. In 2011, Mitchell led the FCS in four statistical categories, including passing yards (4,009) and touchdown passes (33) on his way to breaking four school records. He broke EWU's record for single season passing yards with 4,009, which ranks 17th in FCS history and fifth in Big Sky Conference history. Mitchell went on to win the Walter Payton Award as the best offensive player in the FCS and was also named the 2011 Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Year. Mitchell was also named to seven All-America teams this past season, earning first team honors on six of them. He was the top quarterback on teams selected by The Sports Network, American Football Coaches Association, Walter Camp, Associated Press, Phil Steele Publications and Beyond Sports College Network.
He signed a free agent contract with Calgary on April 30 after he went undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft. The Stampeders take on the Montreal Alouettes in their season opener next Sunday, July 1. Former Appalachain State players Marques Murrell and Ed Gainey are members of the Alouttes.
