For the second night in a row, the Hickory Crawdads scored 11 runs against Greensboro and roughed up the Grasshoppers 11-5 Saturday night at LP Fran Stadium. Hickory (3-0; 39-33), which has won three in a row to begin second half play, jumped in front with five runs in the bottom of the first inning. Jorge Alfaro and Alejandro Selen did most of the damage as those two combined for nine runs-batted-in (Alfaro drove in five runs; Selen drove in four). A two-out throwing error

by third baseman Josh Adams ignited the rally. Rougned Odor reached safely on the play to extend the inning. Jeremy Williams was hit by a pitch, and Drew Robinson walked to load the bases. Alfaro gave Hickory the lead for good with a two-run single; Selen followed with a three-run homer. John Schultz got Greensboro (0-3; 46-27) on the board with a solo home run in the top of the third, but Hickory tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the third for a commanding 8-1 lead. Back-to-back singles by Williams and Robinson started the inning.  Then Alfaro and Selen struck again with an RBI single and an RBI double, respectively. Jhonny Gomez drove in Alfaro from third with an RBI grounder.
The Crawdads kept pouring it on as they scored three more times in the fourth. Odor blasted a solo home run over the right field wall, and one out later, Robinson singled his way on before he scored on a two-run shot by Alfaro that gave Hickory an 11-2 lead.
The Grasshoppers picked up three runs in the top of the seventh inning, but Daniel Lopez settled down with no further damage being done. Chance Sossamon slammed the door in the ninth.
Jared Eickhoff (8-4) went six innings and picked up the win; he gave up two earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts. Robinson and Alfaro each had three hits and scored three times; Jeremy Williams had two hits and scored twice.
