Former Appalachian State University pitcher Seth Grant has been released by the Miami Marlins. Grant, who was 7-3 with a team-best 3.49 earned-run-average this spring, was taken by the Miami Marlins in the 26th round

(797th pick) of the Major League Baseball Draft on June 6. But Grant has been released after Marlins' team doctors diagnosed he had a torn rotator cuff.
Grant made 16 appearances (all of those starts) for the Mountaineers this season. He gave up 39 earned runs with 69 strikeouts in 100 2/3 innings.
