The Hickory Crawdads opened the second half of the season with a 6-3 win against the Greensboro Grasshoppers Thursday night at L.P. Frans Stadium. The Crawdads erased a 2-1 deficit in the bottom of the fourth inning.  Jorge Alfaro led off the inning with a single and advanced to third on a

double into the left field corner by Kevin Torres.  Jordan Akins followed with an RBI ground out that scored Alfaro from third, tying the score, 2-2.  Hickory took the lead moments later on an RBI double by Trever Adams, as he blasted a ball into left-center field to plate Torres.  One out later, Adams came around to score on an RBI double by Rougned Odor that gave the 'Dads a 4-2 advantage.
Greensboro (0-1; 46-25) cut the lead by scoring a run in the top of the seventh after loading the bases with two infield singles and a walk. Wilfredo Gimenez singled in a run to shrink the Hickory lead at 4-3, but right hander Arlett Mavare came on in relief and induced an inning-ending double play with no further damage being done. The Crawdads added some insurance with single runs in the seventh and eighth innings.  Hanser Alberto, who entered the game as a defensive replacement in the sixth, led off the seventh by being hit by a pitch.  Alberto advanced to third after a bunt single by Luis Sardinas and a fielder's choice by Drew Robinson. He scored on an RBI ground out by Jeremy Williams, making the score 5-3.  Hickory collected it's final run in the eighth. Torres led off with a double and scored on a two-base fielding error that gave Hickory (1-0; 37-33) a 6-3 lead.
Mavare pitched a scoreless eighth inning before Phil Klein came on and picked up his fourth save of the ytear in the ninth. Nick Martinez (3-2), who went six innings and gave up two earned runs on three hits with three strikeouts, got the win. Adams had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. The Crawdads made 11 hits.
