Arrowood Makes Pro Debut Today PDF Print

Ryan Arrowood, the all-time leader in career wins at Appalachian State University, will make his professional debut today with the Tri-City Dust Devils of the Northwest League, the Class A short-season affiliate of the

Colorado Rockies. Arrowood was taken by the Rockies in the 28th round of the Major League Draft. He closed out his collegiate career with a gem against the University of Oklahoma in the opening-round of the Charlottesville Regional on June 2. Arrowood went 7 2/3 innings and gave up an earned run on two hits with nine strikeouts in a 5-4 win against the Sooners. He kept Oklahoma hitless for six-plus innings.
Arrowood also surpassed Matt Andress with 28 career wins, and he was one of only two Division I pitchers to go undefeated this season. Arrowood was 11-0 his senior year, and he also set a new single-season school record with 93 strikeouts.




Ryan Frankoff of ASU is off to a good start with the Wilmington Sharks of the Coastal Plain Summer Collegiate League. The left hander from Raleigh-Apex High School has made four appearances with the Sharks this season. In five innings, he has not given up an earned run, he has scattered three hits with nine strikouts and two walks.
Frankoff appeared in 19 games for the Mountaineers this season. He was 2-1 with a save and a 2.95 earned-run-average. He gave up six earned runs in 18 1/3 innings with 22 strikeouts and seven walks.
