BlueClaws Clip Crawdads, 4-3 PDF Print

The Lakewood BlueClaws edged the Hickory Crawdads, 4-3 at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood on Friday night. The BlueClaws (24-43) scored the eventually winning run in the bottom of the eighth against losing pitcher Will Lamb, who suffered his sixth loss of the season without a win. Carlos Perdomo led off with a walk, and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt

by Alejandro Villalobos. A walk and a hit batsman loaded the bases for Chris Duffy drove in the go-ahead run with a  sacrifice fly to left field, giving Lakewood a 4-3 lead.
Colton Murray picked up his fourth save of the year as he retired the side in order in the ninth inning. The 'Dads (36-31) took an early lead in the top of the third inning.  With one out, Jhonny Gomez walked, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a double by Chris Grayson for a 1-0 lead. Lakewood tied the game in the bottom of the third. Bob Stumpo led off with a double and Kyrell Hudson dropped a bunt down the first base line.  Hickory pitcher Nick Martinez ran it down, but made a bad throw to first allowing Stumpo to score.
The BlueClaws took a 2-1 lead with a run in the fifth.  With two outs, Hudson singled to extend the inning and moved to third on a single by Carlos Perdomo. He scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch. The Crawdads came back and tied things up in the top of the sixth. Luis Sardinas singled with one out, and then proceeded to steal second  and third base on consecutive pitches. He scored One out later on Zach Cone's RBI single to center field.
The BlueClaws went up 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth, but the Crawdads tied it back up with a run in the top of the eighth.  Gomez sparked the rally, this time with a single to start the inning. Grayson bounced a ball to second, but Villalobos misplayed the ball allowing Gomez to reach third base. Grayson went to second on the play. A sacrifice fly Sardinas drove in Gomez forcing a 3-3 tie.
Each team only made six hits; Martinez, who had a no-decision, gave up three earned runs on six hits during his six-inning stint. Mike Nesseth (5-1) picked up the win in relief. He gave up an unearned run on one hit with two strikeouts in two innings.
