Crawdads Down BlueClaws, 7-1 PDF Print

The Hickory Crawdads jumped in front with a five-run third inning and never looked back, cruising to the 7-1 win against the Lakewood BlueClaws (23-43) at FirstEnergy Park Thursday night. Jhonny Gomez sparked the offense with

a double to left field against losing pitcher Ramon Oviedo (1-4) to start the third inning. Chris Grayson walked and Hanser Alberto ripped an RBI double to left-center field. Gomez scored on the play; and a bad throw by shortstop Carlos Perdomo allowed Grayson to score on the play for a 2-0 lead.. Alberto advanced to third on the play. Drew Robinson walked and promptly stole second base. One out later, Jeremy Williams, who had three hits and two RBI on the night, uncorked a two-run double to left field that gave the Crawdads (36-30) a 4-0 lead. Kevin Torres tacked on the final run in the inning with an RBI single that gave the Crawdads their five-run cushion.
Robinson had an RBI single in the fourth giving Hickory a 6-0 lead. Winning pitcher Jerad Eickhoff (7-4) tossed a six scoreless innings with scattering five hits scattered with four strikeouts. Nick McBride took over in the seventh and gave up an earned run on two hits in his two-inning stint; Andrew Faulkner closed things out with a scoreless ninth inning.
