Former Appalachian State University pitcher Seth Grant has entered his professional baseball career with a bumpy start. The right hander, who led the Mountaineers with a 3.49 earned-run-average, has suffered a torn labrum

and has been sent home by Miami Marlins' team doctors after they discovered the injury.
Grant, who was taken by the Marlins in the 26th round of the Major League Baseball Draft last week, was assigned to Jupiter, Fla, the Marlins Gulf Coast League affliate, where the injury was discovered. He was 7-3 this past season with the Mountaineers, and he ranks fifth all-time in school history in games started with 40 and strikeouts with 180.
